Our Story
Hello,
My name is Mat.
A few years ago, I lost someone who meant everything to me.
And with that loss, a part of my own story disappeared forever.
What still weighs on my heart today isn’t only the absence.
It’s all the things I never took the time to ask.
Her childhood memories.
The moments when she felt afraid.
The moments when she felt proud.
Her dreams even the ones she never dared to share out loud.
The hard choices she had to make.
The small, everyday details that once seemed ordinary… and now feel priceless.
I always believed there would be “more time.”
More time to ask.
More time to listen.
More time to truly understand.
But that “later” never came.
And that realization leaves behind a quiet, constant ache.
Not loud. Not dramatic.
Just a deep, lingering regret,
of not having asked enough,
of not having listened closely enough,
of not having captured the essence of her life while I still could.
From that emptiness, the idea for the journal
“I Want To Know Your Story” was born.
This journal is not just a book.
It is a second chance.
An invitation to open the conversations we so often postpone,
not because we don’t care,
but because life moves too fast
and we always think we’ll have more time.
It is a space to ask the important questions,
and also the simple ones.
The questions that awaken forgotten memories.
The ones that make us smile… and sometimes cry.
The ones that reveal a life as it was truly lived.
This journal exists to preserve what time takes from us too soon.
Stories.
Emotions.
A person’s voice, captured through their own words.
I can’t go back.
I can’t recover the questions I never asked.
But if this journal can spare you that regret…
If it can give you the chance to truly know the people you love
while they are still here…
Then this pain will have had a purpose.
I want to give you the opportunity to ask.
To listen.
To preserve.
So that one day, you can open these pages and say:
“I know who you were. I know your story.”
With all my heart,
Mat ❤️
